[Athi River 3rd March 2026] This week during Chapel service, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban P. Ayiro received the Commission for University Education (CUE) Certificate of Audit, following the Institutional Audit conducted from 2nd to 5th October 2023.
In a momentous occasion, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic, Research and Student Affairs (DVC-ARSA), Prof. Samuel Muriithi, read the Commission’s letter, addressed to Daystar University, after which he officially presented the Certificate of Audit to Vice-Chancellor, flagged by members of the University Management and the Acting Director of Quality Assurance, Mr. Anthony Wambua.
The Commission for University Education is the government agency established under the Universities Act No. 42 of 2012 to regulate university education in Kenya.
Acknowledging the letter from the CUE Chief Executive Officer Prof. Mike Kuria, Prof. Ayiro both celebrated the milestone and issued a solemn admonition to the university community, charging them to avoid the trap of complacency.
The Vice Chancellor thanked the DVC-FAP Prof. Muturi Wachira and Chief Finance Officer CPA Phyllis Mutua for ensuring the University continuously worked towards meeting the set regulatory standards.
He underscored that while the certificate validates Daystar University's current standing, the true measure of institutional success lies in the University’s ability to sustain these standards.
The Vice Chancellor further highlighted that the certification was an attestation of standards upheld by the University, including the continuous review and improvement of academic programmes, enriched teaching and learning experiences, infrastructure development geared towards the strengthening of graduate employability through relevant and industry-aligned training, and the expansion of global academic mobility through credit transfer opportunities across institutions worldwide.
The certification is the culmination of a rigorous 4-day Institutional Audit conducted by the Commission for University Education from 2nd to 5th October 2023.
The CUE Institutional Audit is a regular exercise carried out every five years for each accredited university in line with Regulations 17(1), (2), (3), and (4) of the Universities Regulations 2014.
It serves to ensure that institutions maintain the highest standards of quality, governance, and academic integrity.
